The aim of this experiential training course is to give counsellors and therapists of diverse orientations, the basic skills, knowledge and experience to confidently use Sandplay Therapy with their clients.
Group limited to 10 participants
Sandplay Therapy offers clients:
- a means of self-discovery, healing and integration
- a way to transform or rechannel blocked energy
- access to the creative playworld of childhood, re-awakening their creative capacities
- a means by which children and adults, unable to articulate their feelings and experiences, can find expression and integration
- safe entry into the deeper archetypal, mythic and transpersonal realms of the psyche
- an activation of their natural, self-healing capacity
- an opportunity for a creative non-rational experience, as a balance to society's over-emphasis on the ego's intellect
The training will provide participants with an outline of:
- Jung's process of Individuation
- the theoretical basis of working with Sandplay Therapy as a therapeutic tool
- the knowledge and skills required to effectively work with Sandplay
- requirements and practical considerations for setting up a sandplay space
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- explore how Sandplay can complement the therapeutic techniques already in practice
- develop skills to introduce the Sandplay process to clients
- develop and practice skills to facilitate the process with clients
- experience the Sandplay process for themselves
- consider practical ways to introduce working with Sandplay into their own work situations
- explore the use of sandplay as a creative approach to supervision and personal enrichment

Group Supervision for Sandplay Therapists
Sundays: Aug 10 - Oct 12 - Dec 14
The aim of the Sandplay group supervision days is to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere for personal and professional enrichment. They offer an opportunity for the cross-fertilization of ideas, continued learning and self-discovery. It is also a time to share and relax with our peers and colleagues.
Sandplay and symbol work bring a transformative and creative dimension to professional development and supervision. As we explore the responses and challenges that emerge in our work with clients, using the creative process of Sandplay, we can gain new insights and access our own deep wisdom.
In the sandtray we are able to deal with personal issues that may hinder our work with clients; find creative new ways forward when we feel stuck; as well being reminded of our strengths and the positive qualities we bring to our work.
Supervision Group Days 2008
The morning session will be a time for supervision. A time for case studies, questions and continued learning and discussion on relevant topics.
The afternoon's experiential session provides an opportunity for participants to do their own sandplay trays, supporting our ongoing personal and professional development and enrichment.
You are welcome to attend the full day or either the morning or afternoon session.

A One Year Part-Time Professional Development Training Course for Counsellors and Therapists
with
Karen Daniel & Anna RussoThe course is designed to give counsellors and therapists further training in creative and expressive therapies. It has theoretical and practical components to stimulate processes for learning and transformation. We will work through models of consciousness that are reflected through various spiritual and psychological traditions. This will provide the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to be able to utilize these techniques with clients. The training will be an intensive time for the deep personal healing work that is essential if we are to consider using these techniques safely, in working with others.
As our self knowledge expands with our continued inner work, as our minds and hearts open to new concepts and creative ways of being, as the ego no longer fears the unknown within, we begin to understand what it is to support others in following their own paths that will take them from healing to awakening.
Course Structure:
There will be 34 days of face-to-face teaching spread over 10 workshops; 5 individual consultations with the trainers for personal mentoring; and a final graduation day.
